Darts is gaining popularity in Alexandria after Sporting Club became a member of the Egyptian Darts Federation. The club’s board decided to inaugurate its darts activities by hosting the 4th Republic Darts Championship from January 28th to 31st, 2026. The event will be attended by prominent figures, club presidents, and sports officials from Alexandria, and will follow this program:
Wednesday, January 28th: Coach and Referee Training Course
Thursday, January 29th: Under-18 and Under-23 Competitions
Friday, January 30th: Preliminary Rounds for the Senior Category
Saturday, January 31st: Senior Finals and Para Darts Competitions
A cooperation protocol will be signed between the Federation and Sporting Club. Yachting and marine clubs will participate alongside Sporting Club for the first time in the darts championships, in addition to clubs from the governorates of Ismailia, Port Said, Damietta, Cairo, and Qena. The expected number of participants is less than 160 players of both genders and all ages. People with physical disabilities participated in the Paradarts Championship. This championship also marks the official participation of Alexandria Governorate in the activities of the Egyptian Darts Federation, and consequently, the African and Arab Darts Federation championships. It will serve as significant preparation for Egypt’s participation in the African Cup in Tunisia next April and the third Arab Cup, scheduled to be held in Jordan next June.
Dr. Yahya Abdel Qader, President of the Egyptian, Arab, and African Darts Federations, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Ahmed Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sporting Club, and the board members, congratulating them on the introduction of darts at the club. He emphasized that this is a major achievement for Alexandria Governorate, spearheaded by Sporting Club, not only as the oldest club in Alexandria but also in Egypt and Africa. He affirmed that this championship represents a significant turning point for darts in Egypt, opening a new window and establishing a focal point for darts championships in the Mediterranean region. Dr. Yahya added that the benefits of the tournament are cumulative, as it is likely to initiate high-level communication efforts to establish a darts region in Alexandria, especially with Egypt on the verge of hosting the 2027 World Cup in Sharm El Sheikh, thus opening the door for active participation from the city’s youth.
Mr. Ahmed Hassan, Chairman of the Sporting Club, stated that the club’s diverse roster is capable of enriching its darts teams and quickly securing a place on the national darts team, representing Egypt internationally, continentally, and regionally. He added that the board of directors has decided to expand the club’s darts activities and allocate a suitable space for them. Furthermore, they are preparing to organize the first Ramadan darts tournament to kick off their darts activity plan, as well as planning to hold the first North Coast darts festival this year in cooperation with the Egyptian Darts Federation.
