The Golden Generation Award, presented by His Highness the President of the General Sports Authority, in team sports and some individual sports, is a significant step in the right direction. We have seen interest (at the club level), which I believe has led to progress in discovering talent, as the federations and clubs have embraced the idea of developing it, as envisioned by the General Sports Authority.
It is true that we needed theoretical evidence to support practical work through a competition analysis focused on outcomes, thus facilitating the process of continuous reinforcement and entertainment for officials and coaches in the club categories, which focused on training and worked on discovery and refinement despite their financial limitations.
There is no doubt that the award has increased the number of clubs interested in discovery and development in the age groups. Note that here we are talking about four team sports in addition to table tennis, and it has sparked extraordinary competition, as the younger categories are inherently tiring, which in itself requires an inherent culture of club training.
However, the idea of the Golden Generation Award still needs to be upgraded to be added to the higher category. The important thing is to progress in this direction, because players in this category may not remain in their category for more than two seasons. Therefore, development can further support the idea, especially if the financial reward of the award is attractive even to the players themselves.
By the way, the clubs that have an interest in training in the listed sports (team or individual) are not large, and they have (originally) established their belief that discovery and refinement are the path to one of two things: promotion to the first team and competition, or investment in (talented) players with a financial capacity to pay.
I conclude by saying that one of the elements of this award should go to clubs that focus on a single game and see high productivity in (training). These players are almost like a stone carved from the ground. This should not exclude other clubs that have more than one game and where training is essential, but still need exceptional financial support:
