The Aramco Team Series presented by the Public Investment Fund heads to vibrant Seoul for the second leg of the five-tournament global series of events, with the Ladies European Tour visiting South Korea for the first time.
The tournament is scheduled to be held from May 10 to 12, and will witness the participation of 36 teams, each of which consists of three female professionals and one amateur, competing for the team title, before the female professionals compete on the final day for the individual tournament title.
In the first visit to the tournament in South Korea, Golf Saudi Arabia will partner with the Kowloon Group, the official host partner, to bring top-class international talent to Seoul, by benefiting from “Kowlon” experience in organizing major tournaments, including the “Kowlon” Korea Open, and this aims Collaborating to deliver a world-class experience for both players and spectators.
South Korea is emerging on the global stage as a standout in women’s golf, having captured eight of the last 15 US Women’s Open titles, while also making up 15 of the top 50 in the current Rolex World Women’s Golf Rankings.
Contributing to the growing success of golf in South Korea is the participation of world number nine Hyo Joo Kim and winner of the Amandie Evian Championship, who is participating in the tournament as the strongest candidate to win the title.
For Kim, competing in Seoul as part of the women’s tour served as motivation to win her first title in the Aramco Team Series presented by the Public Investment Fund.
On this occasion, Kim said: “I heard from the participants in the Aramco Women’s Team Series round about the specialness and importance of the tournament.” She added: “As soon as I heard that the series was heading to Korea for the first time, there was no hesitation or doubt that I would compete in it, as the uniqueness of the tournament excites me; I have never played in a tournament quite like it before.
