The State of Qatar announced today, Friday, that it will host the 2024 FIFA Confederations Cup in December, with the participation of the continental champion clubs.
His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, said in press statements: “We are pleased to host another prestigious sporting event that will be added to the State of Qatar’s record of honorable achievements. Hosting the three final matches of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024 is a clear testament to Qatar’s ability and excellence in organizing world-class sporting events.”
His Excellency added: “After nearly two years of hosting the best-ever edition of the World Cup in the State of Qatar, we are proud to host the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024, and we look forward to welcoming a number of prominent names in world football in a wonderful event that highlights the sustainable legacy of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.”
The 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup is one of the most important and prominent tournaments organized by the International Federation of Association Football at the club level. The English club Manchester City holds the title of the previous edition of the tournament in 2023. The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) considers it the most important annual club tournament that witnesses the crowning of the winning team of the global event. The tournament demonstrates FIFA’s ongoing commitment to providing more opportunities to advance the game of football, to enhance its position on the global stage.
