The Saudi Football Association announced the appointment of the former coach of the Saudi Al-Hilal club and the Turkish club Fenerbahce, Jorge Jesus, as coach of the first Saudi national team that will compete in the Copa America competitions this year, as Jesus succeeds the French coach, Renard, who led the team to the World Cup finals in Qatar 22.
Jesus is 68 years old, he was born on July 4, 1954 in the Portuguese city of Amadora, and he played for the Portugal national team between 1969-1989 and was a midfielder with Sporting Lisbon.
Jesus came to Saudi Arabia for the 2018/2019 season as coach of Al-Hilal Club, and won the league championship with him.
This will be the first time that Jesus takes over the leadership of a national team, as his previous duties were confined to a number of Portuguese clubs, the Brazilian Flamengo team, and the Turkish Fenerbahce team, and his contract with Al-Akhdar extends until 2025.
