The improvements made by the General Sports Authority to some football stadiums are truly a source of pride, even if there are some shortcomings. These do not detract from the overall quality of the work, as it is crucial that the improvements satisfy the clubs that play on those stadiums and the fans who support their teams. We can only commend the efforts of those responsible!

Differences between stars

When we talk about quality, we are not only referring to the playing surface but also to the various facilities for the competing teams and the fans. What was once a source of complaint is now being praised by those who completed it, as the saying goes, “He who does not thank people does not thank God.” Where were we, and where have we arrived?!

One example of these improvements is Al-Ahli Club’s stadium, which has become a masterpiece (artistic) compared to what it was in recent seasons. This transformation involved removing the side stands and converting it into an open-air stadium, but the improvements extended to the stands, the grass, and the covered sides. As we mentioned, it has become a masterpiece that can only be completed with the construction of additional stands. However, the stadiums in Hamad Town, Al-Najma, and Al-Riffa still require improvements, despite the upgrades already made. This includes replacing the spectator seats, which are still in poor condition; most are unusable due to the poor quality of the materials, making them prone to damage. It’s also crucial to cover the backdrops of the proposed stadiums at Al-Najma and Al-Riffa. (Of course, we acknowledge the efforts of the Sports Authority, but nothing is perfect.) The relevant department is responsible for all stadiums, including those belonging to clubs, and its oversight is extensive. This responsibility cannot be left to the clubs, otherwise, the stadiums will deteriorate and fall into disrepair. Therefore, this role must be appreciated, as they are dedicated even to serving as substitutes for the clubs when their stadiums are being maintained!

It’s also worth noting the difficulties faced by the Al-Muharraq and Al-Ahli clubs when official matches are held there. This requires coordination with other entities to ensure a smoother exit process for fans from these clubs. We hear about this problem from the fans themselves, and it’s evident from some leaving well in advance.
