The book “Lion of the Stadiums” was recently published in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the latest sports publication, which tells the story of the career of the Lebanese international player Shabal Harmoush, a professional at Al-Nasr Club in Dubai in the mid-seventies, and the story of his transfer to “Al-Ameed” coming from Al-Ansar of Lebanon following the Lebanese civil war, and then his return to the same team after the Football Association’s decision to ban foreign players, and limit it to local players only. The honorable star was keen to give me a copy of the valuable publication, which included the story of his contract with “Al-Azraq” with his late colleague Hassan Haidar, when his brother Samir Harmoush, who was working in the Emirates to manage Al-Nasr, offered to contract with Shabal, and assigned Abdulrahman Tahlak, the general secretary at that time, to travel to Beirut with the technical director, Mimi Al-Sharbiny, to complete the contract with the player and his compatriot Hassan Haidar. The book also included the story of the player’s representation of the UAE military team during the same period with the elite of Arab stars: Ashraf Abu Al-Nour, Najm Al-Din Fadl, Al-Tayeb Sand, Hamouri, Mushir Othman, and Al-Fadhel Santo, Ibrahim Abdel Samad, and Rajab Abdel Moneim, as well as their distinguished role in the beginning of its establishment in 1973, this book is considered a new addition to the Arab sports library. The work was written by our colleague Ibrahim Musa Wazna, who specializes in documentary books. We must praise the documentary work he provided for an Arab player who was an example of respect on and off the field. We salute him because he reminds us of goodness and did not forget us, and this is the characteristic of good people. By the way, the Lebanese were famous during the sixties for publishing many books and sports magazines. In our local sports press, there was a clear imprint in the field of sports journalism for a number of Lebanese colleagues who worked in local newspapers for many years, from the old generation, the late Abdul Majeed Jaber, and the veteran Muhammad Homsi, in addition to the youth of the new generation, Maan Khalil, Ali Najm, and Ali Al-Zein. May God protect Lebanon and its people, and we hope for the return of stability to this brotherly country. And God is behind the intention.
