Jumaa Rabie, the coach of our national team for the Gulf Football Legends Championship, which is expected to officially start in beloved Kuwait on February 20, with the participation of the Gulf teams that participated last month, announced the list of candidates to participate in the anticipated competitions.
Memories take us back to the returning coach Jumaa Rabie when he participated with the Gulf team in the same month of 1980 against Hamburg, Germany, in the match that ended in a five-five draw, and we were represented in it by Jumaa Rabie and Abdul Karim Khammas, the Al-Nasr player, and Rabie was a student at the Military Police College in Kuwait at the time.
Our national team is playing in the first group alongside Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman in the tournament matches. We wish our team and the tournament in general success and good luck. We commend this wonderful initiative, which confirms the meaning of loyalty to stars who shone in the sky of Gulf football. We remember well this constellation of resounding names. The announced list includes 19 players, most of whom participated in the Gulf and achieved two Gulf Cup championships, the first in the 18th tournament in Abu Dhabi, and the second in the 22nd tournament in Manama. I love these beautiful names that remind us of the good old days. They entertained us, and it is time for us to enjoy them again. Despite leaving the game, they will remain immortal names. They gave the most wonderful performances, were loyal to their roles, and entertained us in the two Gulf Championships that we won before. I also liked that the technical and administrative staff represented us abroad, and they were stars in every sense of the word. They are: Walid Obaid as assistant coach. Walid now has a social media program that is achieving success. Abbas Ibrahim is the goalkeeper coach, and he is the older brother of the stars Abdul Razzaq and Mohammed Ibrahim. The veteran administrator with rich experience, Mohammed Obaid Al Dhaheri, is the team manager. The trustworthy goalkeeper, who defended our team’s goal in many continental and international championships, Abdul Qader Hassan, is the administrator. Aren’t these names beloved by all of you and remind you of the team in its good old days? And God is the One who knows best.
