His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, praised the State of Qatar’s organization of the major football event, the Qatar Asian Cup, which brings together the best teams of the Asian continent in a strong competition. His Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar excelled in organizing and preparing for this tournament and represents an extension of the legacy of the FIFA World Cup. Qatar 2022, and expresses its support for promoting the development of sports in the region in particular and in general at the global level.
This came during His Excellency’s meeting with a number of Gulf athletes, today, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, on the sidelines of Doha hosting the first meeting of the twenty-seventh session of the Advisory Body.
His Excellency the Secretary-General said: We extend our greetings to the government and people of the State of Qatar, and the organizing committee of the Asian Cup.
For the distinguished preparations and organization of the tournament, His Excellency wished the Gulf teams success and success in this tournament, especially since our Gulf countries have a long history and great successes that we are proud of in this field.
His Excellency stated that the atmosphere of the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar reminded us of the atmosphere of the 2022 World Cup, and that the State of Qatar always sends clear messages by hosting these tournaments and events, which is to focus the attention of the whole world on the Gulf region, specifically on the country hosting this great event, of which all countries are proud.
