Loving people is a great sustenance from God and a treasure that has no price, even if one spends on it the treasures of the world. May God unite our hearts, direct our steps, and grant us what is good for us. “Science and a Pen” This is the title of a new sports book that will be published soon in the city of love, peace and culture, Beirut, on the authority of The dean of Arab sports journalists, Youssef Berjawi, 60 years of journalism, who is visiting us these days.
Berjawi was awarded the Lebanese Silver Medal of Merit in recognition of his services in sports media. He played sports as a soccer and volleyball player. He worked in sports journalism accompanying its first generation and was associated with the giants of sports journalism.
He established the sports department in the Lebanese “Safir” and assumed the position of sports editor in it until its occultation six years ago. He also held membership in the Executive Committee of the Lebanese Football Association, to membership in several committees in the Asian Football Confederation, and the former president of the Asian Confederation, Sultan Ahmed Shah, awarded him the annual award of the Confederation. For the best sports journalist in the year 2000, he attended 10 Olympic tournaments and 10 competitions for the FIFA World Cup finals and dozens of regional, Arab and international tournaments, until he became the most participating Arab journalist in international sporting events.
He began his journalistic career in 1965, and despite his retirement from journalism due to his health conditions, wishing him a speedy recovery, he finds love from people and all segments of the sports community in Lebanon and abroad. He supported everyone who knocked on his door, and “Boufras” was a different type of colleague, a man of work and associated with the generation of the beautiful time that will not be repeated among the old colleagues in the Arab sports press.
It is a history that walks on the earth. We met yesterday on a beautiful evening with the companions of the path. We enjoyed his sweet memories and his sports stances that are suitable as a scientific subject for university students. One of our young colleagues volunteered to write a book about his professional biography, which is a good gesture that we rarely see today.. Berjawi is a well-known name. And it is in the heart of all our media circles, for this is the generation of values that tired, miserable and sacrificed for the sake of this honorable profession. And the God of the intent behind
