FIFA President Gianni Infantino attacked the bids submitted by the Big Five, or the five European countries, to buy the rights to broadcast the Women’s Soccer World Cup matches in Australia and New Zealand, which are scheduled to start on July 20 and end on August 20.
Infantino denounced the policy of double standards after the “Big Five” group submitted a bid to buy the rights to broadcast the World Cup matches for men at a value of $ 200 million, compared to only $ 10 million for the women’s version, which the FIFA president considered as a “slap in the face,” saying: “ This is a slap in the face to all women’s World Cup players, not to all women around the world.”
He also threatened to permanently deprive the five European countries of Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain of broadcasting rights, if the offers continued in this way.
