Counselor Osama Al-Saeedi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Contractors Club and the former head of the club’s Football Committee and the one responsible for the football file in the Arab Contractors Club during the period of Mohamed Salah’s professional career, confirmed that he was aware of what was reported in some media outlets that Salah rejected Al-Ahly. The truth is that Mohamed Salah did not reject Al-Ahly, but rather it was political. The club, headed by Engineer Ibrahim Mehleb at that time, was not to neglect distinguished players except through the portal of external professionalism, and that was specifically in late 2011 in light of the presence of 5 players from the Arab Contractors Club in the youth team, which was being coached at that time by Captain Mustafa Younes, captain of Egypt. Al-Ahly Club, and these players were Mohamed Salah, Mohamed El-Nenny, Ali Fathi, Mahmoud Ezzat, and Ahmed El-Behairy. They were honored by the club at that time, and Engineer Ibrahim Mehleb, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, recommended that they be taught the English language.
Counselor Osama Al-Saidi added that one of the Al-Ahly Club officials spoke to him at that time about Mohamed Salah and other players, and I presented it to the Board of Directors, and the unanimous opinion was to implement the club’s policy regarding external professionalism.
Counselor Osama Al-Saeedi pointed out in the end that Mohamed Salah is an Egyptian icon and an institutional work that must be preserved for the sake of Egypt, and the utmost precision must be exercised in dealing with Mohamed Salah’s file, as he is no longer just a football player but rather an ambassador for Egypt in the whole world.
