A rich history
The origin and heritage of Amels goes back many centuries, beginning with the family shipbuilding in the Netherlands in 1918, in the city of Makkum, North Holland, from which the Amels family established a legacy that has since developed over the years.
She then went from building wooden fishing boats, steel tugboats, and coasters to becoming one of the pioneers in building luxury yachts as we know them today.
KATALINA is the first superyacht from Amels which impressed everyone, giving birth to the ever-growing Amels fleet, recognized as the pinnacle of superyachts ever.
When Kommer Damen, the second generation owner of Damen Shipyards, acquired Amels in 1991, the brand became part of the Damen family shipbuilding group. Bringing another century of unique Dutch shipbuilding experience to his family, while preserving the Amels brand and staying true to its roots.
His proven and successful shipbuilding philosophy aims to further Amells projects that have proven successful worldwide.
