The first Saudi professional golfer, Othman Al-Mulla, expressed his preparations to participate in the Saudi Open Championship presented by the Public Investment Fund, which will be held from April 17 to 20 at the Riyadh Golf Club.
Al Mulla, who turned professional in 2019, is one of 32 Saudi golfers set to compete in the Asian Tour event, including fellow professionals Faisal Salhab and Saud Al Sharif.
The Riyadh Golf Club witnessed an introductory media tour, where professional Othman Al-Mulla, 37 years old, was accompanied by a number of media colleagues on three holes on the sidelines of his preparations for participation in the tournament. The tour included giving information to the media about the game of golf, the mechanism of competition in it, the importance of holding tournaments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and plans. The media was also given the opportunity to try the game with the help of professional trainers in the places designated for training, with the tournament launching the slogan “Golf and More,” especially since the tournament includes many accompanying activities through the presence of the Sijja Bazaar and concerts in the evening, in addition to a number of activities designated for children.
Saudi professional Othman Al-Mulla highlighted the importance of the presence of children and youth in the tournament, ensuring that they spend enjoyable times and learn more about the sport of golf, which encourages the new generation to practice this sport.
Othman Al-Mulla stressed that the Saudi Open Golf Championship is a wonderful event and said: “I am excited to participate and compete in it, especially since it represents the Asian Tour that is being held in my homeland, Saudi Arabia, with global and Asian participation, in addition to the pleasure of watching and enjoying the atmosphere and special events on the sidelines of the tournament and celebrations. Happy Eid Al-Fitr.” He added: “It is necessary for the Saudi Open Championship to become a gateway to golf that contributes and encourages more Saudis to practice this sport.
Al-Mulla pointed to the major role played by the media as a strategic partner in the success of sporting events and publicizing them, stressing the importance of the media’s continuous presence with golf activities, players and all aspects of the game, which contributes to the desired message being delivered to the receiving audience.
The professional Saudi player, Othman Al-Mulla, will participate in the tournament with an elite group of international and Asian names and golf players, most notably Henrik Stenstone, David Puig, Peter Ohlin and Andy Ogletree, in addition to 14 players who were invited from seven Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa region thanks to cooperation with the Arab Golf Federation.
On the other hand, golf fans and followers will be able to enjoy during the evening many activities in the fan zone, which is expected to witness a large attendance, especially with the announcement of many accompanying events, musical acts, and amazing fireworks displays, in addition to the availability of food and beverage services.
