The Al-Hilal first team has begun its actual preparations for participating in the Club World Cup next month by signing a defender for its traditional rival, Ali Lajami, who is expected to fill the position of Ghanaian professional Kuala Bali. The deal has generated widespread interest in the Saudi sports community, as part of the “Leader”‘s efforts to strengthen its ranks in preparation for the upcoming season’s major events.
On Tuesday evening, Al-Hilal announced via its official account on the “X” platform that Saudi international Ali Lajami had joined the first football team. The team posted a photo of the player wearing a blue shirt, accompanied by the phrase: “Ali Lajami… a new defender in the Leader’s squad.” Lajami’s move represents a new milestone in his professional career, having spent four seasons with Al-Nassr since his transfer from Al-Fateh in the summer of 2020. He began his football career with Al-Khaleej. Some estimates indicate that Lajami received a sum of 80 million riyals over three years, which is more than 10 million riyals more than the amount Al-Nassr was demanding to renew his contract. This sum includes monthly salaries and the advance payment on the contract, which runs until 2028, excluding bonuses and incentives.
