ABT CUPRA XE has confirmed its participation in the 2023 Extreme E season, unveiling new livery for the Tavascan XE, along with a new driver package.
Where Clara Anderson joins the long-running racer Nasser Al-Attiyah in the 2023 season, after the team produced impressive performances last year, which included a podium finish in Chile in September and the team’s victory in the Energy X Prix in Uruguay last November.
Extreme E aims to encourage everyone to take positive action to protect the future of the planet, by racing pure electric cars off-road and in natural environments threatened by climate change, highlighting how to prevent further damage and contribute to sustainability.
Extreme E is also one of the few races to feature mixed-gender driving teams, which aligns with CUPRA’s commitment to gender equality. Being part of a CUPRA group is not about sex, it is about spirit, mentality and the way you handle different situations.
The company is the first brand to announce its participation in the 2021 race, and has joined ABT Sportsline as the team’s main partner.
Having finished its second season, which culminated in sixth place in the overall standings, the ABT CUPRA XE team is focused on achieving consistent results in its third season, partnering five-time Dakar Championship winner Nasser Al-Attiyah (2011, 2015, 2019, 2022 and 2023 edition) with Rising World RX star Clara Anderson.
The team car features updated styling to match the UrbanRebel, ABT CUPRA GEN3 Formula E car and CUPRA e-Racer. With its multi-layered chameleon-like body paint, which combines deep purple and neon yellow. This all-electric off-road racing car refers to the design language, which will be used in future series production of CUPRA models Tavascan, which embodies the brand’s second 100% electric model, designed in Barcelona, and scheduled to arrive in the rest of Europe. and overseas markets in 2024.
The Extreme E Series advances CUPRA’s electric vehicle research to support the concept of sustainability, environmental awareness and gender equality.
CUPRA Racing President Xavi Serra said: “Our second season has seen serious progress in terms of understanding how we can work better as a team. We finished the season with a series of strong results, and we are keen to maintain this level.

And the Tavascan XE will be shown with a new livery with Clara Andersson behind the wheel during the Race of Champions this weekend (January 28 and 29) in Pite Havsbad, Sweden. The first race of the Extreme E season has been scheduled for March 11th and 12th in Saudi Arabia.
This year also saw CUPRA expand its production of environmentally friendly electric racing cars, by joining ABT to compete in Formula E, which starts on January 27 and 28.
