A clear difference became apparent to me between my first visit to Doha to cover the World Military Football Championship in 1981 to the present day.
We arrived in Doha 43 years ago when the Supreme Organizing Committee for the World Military Championships invited us through the Media Committee, which was headed by the Dean of Qatari Media, Saad Al-Rumaihi, accompanied by many Arab media professionals from the Emirates, the distinguished journalist Hamdi Nasr from Al-Ittihad newspaper, and the late Alaa Ismail from Al-Bayan. This tournament witnessed strong competition between the teams and the media at the beginning of the renaissance of sports media. The UAE had been participating in the tournament known as “CISMEM” since the beginning of the seventies.
This tournament was almost compulsory due to the lack of participation and championships among the national federations, as there were only the World Military Championship and the World Cup qualifiers. Among the most prominent coaches, Mimi El-Sherbiny, the coach of Al-Nasr at the time, took over the training of our Egyptian military team. In addition to the important tournaments on the agenda of the two national federations, they are the Gulf Cup tournaments at the level Our teams in the region.
Between the first visit to Doha and the current visit, the very big difference in everything becomes clear, and I stop here with regard to sports in general and football in particular, after it has witnessed tremendous development in sports capabilities, facilities and facilities.
It is true, with all sincerity and honesty, that the difference between yesterday and today is large and wide, and I was also happy with the presence of large numbers of Qataris who receive and welcome guests from your arrival to the airport and organize, manage and supervise by themselves all steps of executive work as a result of the accumulated experience they have with this experience in order to provide support and assistance to everyone. Visitors to Doha.
These days, the Qatari capital brings together the men of the Asian, international, Arab and Gulf Federations under one roof for one goal, which is to develop football, the number one popular game in the world. Congratulations to football fans around the world for what our countries are offering… and God is behind the intention.
