The election of Indian Randhir Singh as the new president of the Olympic Council of Asia is a continental event that we must stop at, as he has a rich history that saved the council from collapse after a Kuwaiti conflict that ended with the cancellation of the previous elections, which sparked widespread reactions at the level of the International Olympic Committee, as the General Assembly family saw that he was the most deserving of this important position, as he has a rich sports history, and comes from a sports family, as his father was a member of the International Olympic Committee between 1947 and 1992.
The new president participated in the Summer Olympics five times, and also played golf, swimming, squash and cricket.
When we participated for the first time in the Asian Games of the region in Bangkok 1978, Randhir Singh won a gold medal in the individual trap, and he also participated in four other Asian Games. We present this model, with the intention that the Arab sports family gets to know these leaders who have a rich and brilliant history, because his distinguished sports history imposed itself during the difficult period that almost toppled the Asian Olympic Council, had it not been for the intelligence of the man who was able to save the council. How much we need such types, leaders and personalities who have experience, knowledge and history, far from emotion and compliments. Our Arab sports suffer from a shortage of administrative wise men, and what I present about this leadership personality according to his career, where Randhir Singh has a rich administrative career, as he has assumed several sports tasks and positions, and Randhir Singh has also received many honorary awards during his career for his efforts. Randhir Singh, 77, was the only candidate for the presidency, and he won 45 votes out of 46, after one abstention. After his election, he humbly said to those present, “Thank you very much. We are very proud of this love. It has succeeded in uniting Asia, the largest continent in the world, and reminded it that it is one family. It is a sporting example that should be emulated by Arab organizations that will soon begin choosing their boards of directors. You should do your best, far from compliments, emotions and balances. Perhaps my people will know!” And God is behind the intention.
