Yesterday marked the 46th anniversary of the founding of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, which has been marked by numerous achievements throughout its history, both Arab and international. We recall the accolades won during those participations, including the presence of our champions on the podiums of the last two Olympics and the harvest of gold.
When Bahrain is mentioned in the Olympic harvest, it is only the result of careful planning and training, from the early years of its founding through to the recent golden years, and the preparation of champions, which cost a great deal of effort and money. Preparing Olympic champions requires significant expenditure.
Ahmed Hamada’s Asian achievement led to a reprogramming to suit and further develop the gradual harvest, as the Athletics Federation, which is the most concerned with the achievements, is concerned, although the Olympic Committee’s interest is not limited to it, but extends to other individual and collective federations.
The Olympic Committee, under the reign of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has made rapid strides, comparable to the speed of sprinters in a sprint race. This has resulted in real development across all federations, the Committee and its departments, including the Academy, with its various administrators and technicians. The 46th anniversary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee reminds us of the men who have contributed greatly to its work and vision, including the late sports icon Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, who chaired it for a long period since its founding, and other prominent administrators with their active interests. As media professionals, we witnessed those “magnificent” years of giving and witnessed the tremendous effort exerted in the work. Here, I recall the Committee’s expert, the late Naaman Sabri, who enriched the administrative work of the Committee for many years with his experience, never withholding any useful information from the media.
