In conjunction with the launch of the “Gulf Zain 26”
Zain announced its support for the book “The Gulf Cup Made Me Old… The Cycle of History and Memories” by Emirati sports critic Mohammed Al-Joker, which tells the story of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Championship, and sheds light on the long-standing Kuwaiti-Emirati relations, in conjunction with the launch of the Gulf Zain 26 Championship.
On this occasion, the Zain Innovation Center (ZINC) at the company’s main headquarters in Shuwaikh hosted His Excellency the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the State of Kuwait, Dr. Matar Al-Neyadi, and the author of the book, Mohammed Al-Joker, in the presence of the Chief Corporate Relations and Affairs Officer at Zain Kuwait, Waleed Al-Khashti, and the company’s team.
The book narrates the long history of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Championship over the years since its first launch in 1970, and its most important milestones. Its chapters shed light on the deep-rooted historical relations between the brothers, especially the Kuwaiti-Emirati relations, and the interest of the Gulf leaders in supporting and developing sports. The book also introduces the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation and its major role in organizing the championship, and the most important achievements it has made.
Zain expressed its pride in the great success achieved by the opening ceremony of the (Gulf Zain 26) Championship under the high patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and praised the artistic painting presented by the ceremony’s segments for the Arab Gulf heritage, and the focus on unifying the Gulf vision to move forward towards a bright future.
Zain, the official partner of the tournament, explained that the events of the ceremony were dazzling and befitting the image and status of Kuwait in international and global sports forums, as it embodied the heritage and cultures of the Gulf peoples, and reflected the unity of cohesion, vision and common identity. The ceremony segments conveyed a lively image of sea and land life, which was highlighted with modern technologies, in reference to the slogan of the tournament competitions “The Future is Gulf”.
The Supreme Organizing Committee of the “Gulf Zain 26” Championship presented an exceptional ceremony to open the tournament competitions, which received wide acclaim in political and sports circles. What was striking was what the last segments of the ceremony presented by displaying the flags of the 8 countries participating in the tournament competitions, and showing archival footage from previous tournaments of the Arabian Gulf Cup.
This partnership with the most important tournament in the Gulf comes within the framework of Zain’s commitment and keenness to support major sporting events and competitions in a way that contributes to enhancing Kuwait’s sports position at the regional level.
