His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Al Wasl Club, received the first copy of the book “The Return of the Emperor.. One generation handing over to another generation” in a new edition that coincided with the suspension of professional league matches and the participation of our clubs in the Asian Football Championships
As colleague Mohammed Al Joker, Secretary-General of the Sports Media Association, launched his twenty-fourth documentary edition, the book (The Return of the Emperor) and invested in the first media forum held in the capital, Abu Dhabi, at the Erth Hotel in Abu Dhabi, where His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Media, received it, as did Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the National Media Council, and Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, Director General of the National Media Office, on the occasion of the great achievement of Al Wasl Football Team, which won the Professional League and the President’s Cup for the 2023-2024 season. This achievement was embodied in the second title on the cover (The Historic Duality: A Generation Hands Over to a Generation).
The documentary book included 286 pages, comprising 13 chapters titled: Building Glory, The Knight of the Arabs and the Impossible, The Comprehensive Leader, A Man of Gold, The Third Cup, A Man on the Level of Al Wasl, The Eighth Star, Half a Century of Memories, Pages from History, The Emperor of Numbers, The Story and the Truth, Symbols in Al Wasl and Unforgettable Days.
In the book, the author expressed the distinguished status and the bright history studded with gold of Al Wasl Club by linking ancient history with the stages of the club’s development, which included the great achievements that were made.
The first chapter (Building Glory) included the reception of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State – may God protect him – for the heroes of the double and the details of what happened in this historic reception. In the second chapter (The Knight of the Arabs and the Impossible), the author focused on the echoes of the achievement for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – may God protect him – and His Highness’s generous congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Al Wasl Club. The third chapter (The Comprehensive Leader) expressed the role of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, in all fields, including sports. In this chapter, the author discussed His Highness’s connection to Al Wasl Club, documenting many immortal scenes with rare photos of His Highness with Al Wasl Club. In the fourth chapter (A Man of Gold), the book discusses the triumphant journey of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the club’s president, since the founding stage and His Highness’s great roles until the club became a lofty sports beacon. This chapter includes the love story and connection between His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Al Wasl Club.
The third chapter (The Third Cup) documents the achievement of winning the President’s Cup in the exciting derby match with Al Nasr. The sixth chapter (A Man on the Level of Al Wasl) focuses on the club’s board chairman, Ahmed Al Shafar, and his fellow board members. The seventh chapter (The Eighth Star) expresses the details of the achievement of winning the Professional League title, with the publication of many photos that documented the event and the immortal moments of coronation.
The eighth chapter (Half a Century of Memories) includes stories and tales from the glorious past and rare photos from before the founding during the stages of merger and then transformation into Al Wasl. In the ninth chapter (Pages from History), the author reviews the club’s boards of directors across different eras.
In the tenth chapter (Emperor of Numbers), the book monitored the accurate information about Al Wasl’s achievement and the team’s winning of the Professional League awards. In the eleventh chapter (The Story and the Truth), the author was keen to narrate his association and relationship with the club since a long time ago. In the twelfth chapter (Symbols in Al Wasl), the book focused on prominent figures in the club, headed by Sheikh bin Maktoum Al Maktoum since he was a player in the team and Sheikh Mohammed bin Obaid Al Maktoum who moved from Al Nasr to Zamalek before the merger. This chapter also addressed the phenomenon of brothers who played for the team. The thirteenth chapter (Unforgettable Days) brought the past from another angle, including the visit of the famous international star Pele to the club, the association of presidents around the world with Al Wasl Club, the historical event of the association of the international star Maradona with Al Wasl Club, and a lot of diversity in this chapter.
