Amidst a significant presence, the Moroccan Sports Press Association signed a cooperation protocol with the Spanish Association and the Portuguese Sports Press Association on Wednesday at the Press House in Tangier, in parallel with the organization of the 2030 World Cup by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
The cooperation protocol aims to create a framework for joint cooperation between the three associations, investing in the common football, cultural and human heritage, and unifying professional efforts to keep pace with the major initiatives established by the joint organization of the 2030 World Cup, in addition to building bridges between sports journalists in the three countries to share professional experiences and sustain the great legacy that this joint organization of the World Cup will leave behind.
This initiative also embodies the belief of the three associations that the media is one of the most important levers for the success of major sporting events, and reflects their awareness of the role played by sports media in Upper Egypt, to give an ideal character to the organization of the 2030 World Cup by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, as an exceptional and unprecedented event in the history of this global sporting event.
In a speech during the signing ceremony, the President of the Moroccan Association of Sports Journalism, Badreddine Idrissi, stressed that the signing of the protocol embodies a “powerful moment” in which the three associations unite to establish a framework for joint work, which aims primarily to support the efforts of the three countries to organize one of the most successful and beautiful World Cup tournaments that brings together three countries and two continents, stressing that the media is a “key player” in the success of international sporting events and immortalizing the legacy they leave behind.
He added that among the objectives of the protocol are forming a front to defend the interests of sports journalists and establishing a basis for exchanging expertise, supporting young journalists, supporting training and mutual benefit from experiences, considering that the choice of Tangier to host the signing ceremony was due to the symbolism that the city represents as a cultural meeting place and an exchange zone between the three countries.
For his part, the Vice President of the Spanish Sports Press Association, Jesus Alvarez, stressed that the protocol aims primarily to benefit from the experience of the media scene in each of the three countries, and to form a framework to support, supervise and supervise journalists who will cover the 2030 World Cup, whether from the three countries or from all countries of the world, in coordination with FIFA, and to unify media efforts in order to keep pace with the various stages of the ongoing preparations for the World Cup. In turn, the President of the Portuguese Sports Press Association, Manuel Queiroz, considered that this protocol will support the efforts of journalists to carry out their responsibility in keeping pace with the 2030 World Cup, whether through covering matches or commenting on sporting events and transmitting the atmosphere of the World Cup, or parallel activities to highlight the culture of each country, stressing that we seek “to make the World Cup a means of bridging the gap between us, this edition will be wonderful and unique because the host countries have different cultures but share humanity.”
