Under the generous sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Dr. Hamdy Mohamed Hussein, President of Luxor University, Dr. Noria Sanz, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, launched the activities of the international conference “Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Antiquities and Heritage in Light of Egypt’s Vision 2030 AD,” which is organized by the Faculties of Archeology at Fayoum and Luxor Universities in cooperation with UNESCO in the period from 18 to 21 February 2024 AD, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Arafa. Sabry Hassan, Vice President of Fayoum University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and the Chairman of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Kamal Khallaf, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology – Fayoum University, and Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Naeem Mohamedin, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology – Luxor University, and the rapporteur of the conference, Prof. Dr. Abdel Rahman Al-Sarouji, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Fayoum University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Mahmoud Sayed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Luxor University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, today, Sunday, February 18, 2024 AD, in Luxor.

Sabry Hassan, Vice President of Fayoum University for Graduate Studies and Research, introduced him to the opening session of the conference, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hamdi Mohamed Hussein, President of Luxor University, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Kahlawi, President of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamal Khallaf, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Fayoum University, and Chairman of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Naeem, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Luxor University, Mr. Ayman Abdel Mohsen, Director of Cultural Projects at the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, representing Dr. Nuria Sanz, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, Prof. Dr. Atef Mansour, former Dean of the Faculty of Archeology at Fayoum University and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Mr. Issa Youssef, Director of the Sharjah Heritage Authority, Mr. Adel Khalil Al Hosani, Director of the Heritage Department at the Sharjah Heritage Authority, and a large group of professors from Egyptian universities and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, specialists in the fields of antiquities, heritage, and museums, and a large number of Leading archaeologists in Egypt and the Middle East and professors of archaeology at Luxor and Fayoum Universities.
The conference includes several topics, including the impact of climate change on archaeological and heritage sites and museum collections, methods and techniques for their sustainable development, and modern applications in developing curricula and teaching methods for specialized courses in the field of antiquities and tangible and intangible heritage, and the use of modern techniques and technologies in archaeological and heritage sites and museums, as well as a topic on historical and archaeological studies. And art related to the various fields of antiquities, museums and heritage.
