Khaled Al-Mutairi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Table Tennis Federation, revealed that the Saudi national team has prepared well to participate in the Egypt International Paralympic Table Tennis Championship, which will be held from January 24 to 27, by entering internal and external camps.
Al-Mutairi said in press statements that the Saudi national team entered a camp in Riyadh for two weeks, followed by a camp in Cairo, divided into a week at the Olympic Center in Maadi and a week at the Hassan Mustafa Hall, where the championship competitions were held.
A member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Backgammon Federation added that participating in this tournament is the best preparation for the West Asian Games Championship that will be held in Sharjah, as well as to collect points to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics or qualify by Wid Card.
He pointed out that the Egypt International Championship is one of the strongest tournaments in light of the participation of the strongest ranked players in the world in the competitions
Al-Mutairi praised the Hassan Mustafa Hall and the extent of its preparations to host the tournament, saying: “
Hassan Mustafa Hall is international, and Egypt has previously organized many events and tournaments there. It is beyond expectations.”
The member of the Saudi Federation spoke about the partnership that was signed with the Egyptian Federation to exchange experiences and camps during the coming period between the Saudi and Egyptian teams.
He concluded by saying: “We will try to win as many medals as possible in the tournament, especially since participating in this tournament and competing with world champions in competitions is a strong interaction for the Saudi team.”
6 Egyptians qualified for the quarter-finals of the Egypt International Paralympic Table Tennis Championship
Six Egyptian players succeeded in qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Egypt International Paralympic Table Tennis Championship, which will be held from January 24 to 27 inside the Hassan Mostafa Halls Complex on 6th of October.
On the men’s level, Khaled Ramadan was able to qualify in the third category and Sameh Eid in the fourth category, in addition to Hassan Tolba and Ihab Fteir in the fifth category and Sayed Youssef in the seventh category.
Egyptian champion Fayza Mahmoud also succeeded in ensuring her presence in the quarter-finals for women in the fourth and fifth categories.
It is expected that some group stage matches will resume tomorrow, and then the final matches for all categories at the individual level will be held in the evening.
The men’s, women’s and mixed doubles matches are scheduled to be held on the 26th and 27th of the same month.
The importance of the tournament lies in collecting points to qualify for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The tournament will be held with the participation of 27 countries, with 184 male and female players, as follows: Belgium, Chile, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway. Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen, in addition to Egypt, the host country.
