Counselor Essam Zidan, member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation and director of the African Paralympic Table Tennis Championship, which is currently being held at the Dr. Hassan Mostafa Halls Complex in 6th of October City and continues until September 23, spoke.
The tournament will be held with the participation of 8 African countries participating in the continental tournament: Algeria, Nigeria, Tunisia, Cameroon, Kenya, Mauritius, and South Africa, in addition to Egypt, the organizing country, with 120 male and female players.
Issam Zidane said: “The competitions of the tournament are strong and very difficult, as the Nigerian team includes strong competitors, and what increases the strength of the tournament is that only the first-place finisher will qualify directly for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.”
He continued: “Nigeria has strong players at the highest level, and there is intense competition between it and Egypt. Other countries are also strong, but they have only one or two distinguished players. Also, the Nigerian national team’s delegation includes 39 people representing the national team, and this indicates the strength of the competition.”
Zidane concluded: “The Egyptian national team prepared well for the championship competitions, as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, provided all support and assistance to the federation.”
