Renault has unveiled the name of its future best-in-class SUV coupe, the Rafale.
The Rafale completes the brand’s lineup powered by E-Tech hybrid engines, built on the CMF-CD platform.
The name “Rafale” is inspired by Renault’s rich past in the world of aircraft, so you have to travel back in time to the early twentieth century, to see the relationship between Renault and aviation.
At that time, Renault was a leading manufacturer of combustion engines for automobiles, as well as for trains and aircraft.
In 1933, Renault acquired Caudron, which specialized in the aircraft industry, and became Caudron-Renault. And all the planes were named that way, the name changed to the C460, a single-seat racing plane designed to break records, to the Rafale in 1934.
Inspired by Renault’s rich history, the company decided to harness the characteristics of the legendary Caudron Rafale in a new luxury car. It embodies a revolution in the world of aerodynamics, which is reflected in the power of performance, daring, excitement and personality.
The world premiere of the all-new Renault Rafale will take place at the 54th Paris Air Show in Le Bourget on June 18.
