Maserati MSG Racing’s Maximilian Günther put on an impressive display in the second part of the Berlin E-Prix double-header, finishing sixth, after beating 15 competitors.
Rain cast a shadow over the track a day after the local champion’s podium finish last Saturday, with the competitors unsure of the next day’s race, despite coping with the wet weather in the final practice session.
And after struggling at the back of the FP3 race, both Max and his teammate Edoardo Mortara exited early in qualifying, finishing 16th and 21st.
With no rain before the race, the Tempelhof circuit dried up quickly and Edu and Max made good progress by following a cautious and conservative strategy in the opening stages.
On the first lap of the race, Edu was able to reach 10th place before his team carried out several repairs on his rear, which he suffered damage to the front wing on lap 16. Meanwhile, Max gained more ground to retain the 17th position.
For his part, Max unleashed the potential of the Maserati Thibaut Folgore, which made a huge noise on the track, to climb to the tenth place on the 23rd lap. He overtook Nico Muller and Lucas di Grassi in eighth place, and Mitch Evans and Antonio Felix da Costa, along with Stoffel Vandoorne to get his seat between The top five inside the ring.
Despite losing ground in the closing stages, Max kept his pace, battling hard with Pascal Wehrlein and overtaking his compatriot for sixth place on lap 35 of 40.
At the end of the race and waving the checkered flag, Max achieved the second place in the top ten list in 2023 and the first fastest lap for the Mizzarati team during the current season, as he scored a total of 24 points for the weekend.
This and after returning to the race after his stop, Edu battled André Lotterer and Sebastien Buemi but pulled away in the closing stages.
With the Formula E season now more than half-completed, Maserati MSG Racing will be returning to its home racing roots at the Monaco E-Prix on May 6th.
