Kia Corporation today revealed full images of the exterior and interior design of the Kia EV9, its first flagship three-row electric SUV, which embodies bold design and sophisticated elegance inside and out. The Kia EV9 represents a pivotal step forward in the company’s journey towards the future of intelligent solutions for sustainable mobility.
The EV9’s bold and confident visual presence is inspired by the design philosophy of Opposites United, which harnesses the creative tension generated by the contrasting values of nature and modernity to deliver a harmonious whole. Kia’s designers have combined a unique blend of sleek, sculpted forms and sophisticated engineering to deliver a contemporary SUV that’s both stunning and quiet.

Exterior design:
Designers Pave New Paths for Electric SUV Design of the FutureGuided by the brand’s design philosophy of “Opposites United,” Kia designers strive to create vehicles with unprecedented visual appeal.
They built on the pillar of the ideology “Bold for Nature”, which incorporates a blend of elements from the natural and physical worlds, and plays a major role in shaping the EV9’s exterior design. The result is a powerful, sophisticated and quietly smooth electric vehicle that is paving new paths for the electric SUV design of the future.
The front of the EV9 is denoted by simple, clear lines, which exude confidence, clarity and calm in equal measure. This is highlighted by the EV9’s signature “Digital Light Grille” and vertical headlamps, the EV9’s signature “Digital Tiger Face”, which exude an unparalleled visual and futuristic look and feel.
The Digital Tiger Face features two groups of small cubes inside the bodywork adjacent to each headlight. The EV9’s innovative “Star Map LED” daytime running lights (DRL) create a new lighting experience and provide a sophisticated animated light pattern that signifies Kia’s Digital Tiger Face for the brand’s future EV models.
Formed by a polygonal design language, the EV9’s side profile seamlessly combines rugged, unquestionable SUV identity with exceptional aerodynamic efficiency. Dynamic triangular fender structures and highly pronounced geometric wheel arches combine with the model’s body, unifying the polygonal elements into a cohesive structure that delivers a defined look. The flowing door handles and tapering rear roofline provide a sense of smooth, efficient movement.
At the rear, the simple, clean lines of the tailgate, elegantly detailed by slim taillights that echo the design of those at the front, further exude the confident EV9’s strength and beauty.
Interior Design:
Kia’s “United Opposites” design philosophy “Technology for Life” ensures the creation of an innovative technology matrix to enhance positive, intuitive interactions between humans and machines – realizing new possibilities for mobility. These values played a pivotal role in creating the interior of the EV9. They enabled Kia designers to prioritize space, comfort and technology for all occupants, reimagining what a family SUV can offer.
Built on Kia’s Global Electric Platform (E-GMP), the EV9’s long wheelbase, low beltline, and completely flat electric vehicle body facilitated creating ample space for all occupants to connect and relax.
Similar to the three-row lounge, offered in both six- and seven-seat formats, Kia solicited feedback from families to evaluate seating configurations and features to ensure the EV9 provided equal space and comfort for all occupants without placing all of its focus on the driver.
Passengers in the first and second row seats can simultaneously recline to relax and unwind when charging the EV9. The second-row seats can easily rotate 180 degrees so that passengers can interact with those sitting in the third row. The third row seats also offer cup holders and charging points for mobile devices.
Throughout its spacious, light and airy cabin, the EV9 embodies simple, elegant design, high quality and exceptionally easy to use. The open, floating panoramic instrument panel extends from the steering wheel to the center of the vehicle. With two 12.3″ touch screens combined with one 5″ segme.
The head-up display enhances the digital experience, providing easy control of vehicle functions, and ensuring physical buttons are kept to a minimum.
The center console is equipped with ample storage options, including a spacious compartment located at its base. The center console doors have been designed larger to add an overall improvement to the interior space.
The EV9’s expansive, high-resolution Audio, Vision, Navigation, and Technology (AVNT) Display creates a rich, immersive experience. This enhances passengers’ ability to seamlessly interact with the digital world.
Below the AVNT screen is a set of hidden-type touch buttons with a start and stop button, along with the AVNT and HVAC controls.
