Nissan’s modified Ariya e-4ORCE is preparing to embark on the world’s first electric expedition from the Magnetic North Pole to the South Pole.
Arctic Trucks, which specializes in polar expedition vehicles, collaborated with Nissan’s design and engineering teams to prepare the Ariya expedition for conditions that will include ice fields, deep snow, mountain climbing and desert dunes.
The Ariya expedition car has been modified with a very strong and distinctive exterior, with a raised suspension, huge wheel arches to accommodate large tires, and multiple modifications to the exterior, in preparation for protection from the harshest conditions in the world, as the Ariya will embark on its toughest test yet to break new ground.
Modifications made to the vehicle were intentionally minimal, while the Expedition maintains the original battery-electric powertrain, and features a twin-engine setup with Nissan’s innovative and unique all-wheel drive system, e-4ORCE has been developed exclusively for electric powertrains.
Also notable are the changes to the increased suspension and massive 39-inch off-road tires, which are fitted to ensure the Ariya Expedition can handle the toughest conditions and terrain. In addition to the stunning exterior design and spacious lounge-like interior, the car is equipped with a built-in espresso machine for British adventurer Chris and his wife Julie enjoy all the luxury and comfort needed on their journey to reach the South Pole.
