Egyptian sports are among the oldest and most established in the Arab world. Egypt was a pioneer in practicing and organizing sports, and most Arab countries benefited from its administrative, technical, and media expertise. Egypt was not merely a country that practiced sports; it was a beacon of sports and culture, contributing to building bridges of love and communication between Arab peoples. It truly served as a benchmark for progress and development in every society.

Differences between stars

The Egyptian state, through all its institutions, was keen to establish sports as an inherent right and to provide a comprehensive environment for developing the abilities of its citizens. It became a model to be emulated in training and development, producing generations of coaches, administrators, media professionals, and referees who had a significant impact on the development of Arab sports.

Throughout history, Egypt has been known for its pioneering role since Pharaonic times, when ancient Egyptians practiced sports for health and strength. This passion was passed down through generations to the modern era. With the British occupation in 1882, the outlines of modern sports began to emerge when the first Egyptian team, “Nashid,” was founded in 1895, marking the beginning of an era of official clubs and tournaments. In 1921, the first Egyptian Football Association was established, ushering in a qualitative leap for Egyptian sports, making it a center of sporting influence in the region.

Since then, Egypt has been sharing its sporting expertise with the Gulf countries, providing players, coaches, and administrators. Numerous Egyptian teams have visited and participated in tournaments within the UAE, leaving a positive impact and becoming a shining example in the history of Arab sporting relations.

Today, all eyes are on Abu Dhabi and the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, where the Egyptian Super Cup will be held between Al Ahly and Zamalek – a summit of national teams, clubs, and stars! We want this to be a truly “super” match, reflecting the bright side of Egyptian and Arab sports, free from any tension or unsportsmanlike conduct. We are confident that the families of both great clubs understand the magnitude of the responsibility, and that their discerning fans will make the encounter a sophisticated sporting spectacle both on and off the pitch.

The organizers in the UAE have provided every comfort for our Egyptian brothers, because Al Ahly and Zamalek are not just clubs, but dear guests in their second home, in our hearts even before our stadiums.

We hope that this match will be a symbol of prosperity and stability in Egypt, especially in the youth and sports sectors, and that this summit will showcase a bright, civilized image, reflecting the stature of both Egyptian and Arab sports. And God is the source of all success.
