On its way to full privatization and making sports a source of national income, the Ministry of Sports announced today, Monday, May 19, 2025, the launch of the “Sports Facilities Investment Project,” which includes three major sports cities: King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City in Jeddah, and King Abdulaziz Sports City in Makkah.
The project offers numerous investment opportunities for the private sector with renewable five-year contracts. These opportunities include: owning naming rights, leasing stadiums to sports clubs and other entities on non-match days, in addition to operating, managing, and maintaining sports facilities, and other investment opportunities within these facilities. These opportunities are based on modern operational models that contribute to raising the efficiency of facilities, improving the quality of services provided, expanding the horizons of commercial investment, and enhancing the fan experience within sports facilities.
The Ministry invited specialized companies interested in investing to apply through the “Foras” portal: https://furas.momah.gov.sa/ar within the specified period, and take advantage of this unique opportunity in one of the Kingdom’s most prominent vital sectors. The ministry had started its steps towards privatization by privatizing some clubs, most notably Al-Ahly, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, Al-Qadisiyah, and Neom, then investing in the Al-Jawhara Stadium (currently Al-Inma), and before that, selling the league rights, which provided large revenues for the sports sector. More facilities and clubs will be offered for privatization.
