The Qatari capital, Doha, will host a major sporting event tomorrow morning, Sunday, represented by organizing a conference entitled “Making the Olympic Champion from Selection to Crowning”, and a ceremony to crown the winners of the Arab Union Award for Sports Culture for the year 2024. The celebration will be sponsored by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Youth and Sports in the State of Qatar, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports and Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, Lieutenant General Jibril Rajoub, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in the State of Palestine, Dr. George Kallas, Minister of Youth and Sports in the Lebanese Republic, Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Ghassal, Director of the Sports Department at the League of Arab States, His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Youssef Al-Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Union, and media figure Ashraf Mahmoud, President of the Arab Union for Sports Culture, and a number of Qatari and Arab sports figures and leaders, members of the Arab Union for Sports Culture, and a number of Arab sports stars crowned with the award. The Arab Union Award for Sports Culture is one of the most important sports awards in the Arab world, which aims to consolidate the values of loyalty and appreciation for those who have provided Sincere efforts to serve Arab sports as well as achievers and initiatives and encourage promising Arab athletes. The first edition of the award was in 2019 in Dubai, the second and fifth in Cairo, and the third and fourth in Amman. The award is generously sponsored by the League of Arab States and the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers. The union announced at a press conference in early December in Cairo the names of the honorees who will be honored tomorrow, Sunday, in Doha. The winner includes several categories, the first of which is the Arab Sports Culture Award for Personality of the Year 2025, which was won by Mr. Muhammad Youssef Al-Manea, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Union for Sports Culture. The Arab Sports Culture Award for the Best Arab Sports Achievement – Men. The Egyptian Ahmed Al-Jundi, who won the gold medal in the pentathlon at the 2024 Paris Olympics, won the Arab Sports Culture Award for Arab Sports Achievement – Women. The Algerian player Iman Khalif, who won the gold medal in boxing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, won the Arab Sports Culture Award for Social Responsibility, which was won by the Zaha Cultural Center, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Excellence Association. The Arab Sports Culture Appreciation Award was given to Mr. Saif Hamed, President of the African Hockey Federation, Egypt, Dr. Youssef Abdullah Al-Shawarbeh, Mayor of Greater Amman, Dr. Thani Al-Kuwari, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Qatar
Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Moroccan Football Federation, Morocco, and Muhammad Salem Al-Amari, former CEO of the Libyan Olympic Committee. The Arab Sports Culture Award for Giving 2024 was crowned by Dr. Sari Hamdan, First Vice President of the Jordanian Olympic Committee, Dr. Ashraf Marai, former President of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, and Qatari Hamad Lahdan, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee
The Arab Sports Culture Award for Media chose Qatari media figure Abdullah Talib Al-Marri, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Raya newspaper, Iraqi Ali Riyah, Tunisian Dr. Reda Al-Najjar, Supervisor of the Training Academy at the Arab States Broadcasting Union, Riyadh Radio in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Yemeni Professor Abdullah Al-Harazi
As for the Arab Sports Culture Award for Youth Initiatives, it went to the Kartna Initiative Our Culture by Dr. Jassim Al-Yaqout from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Rise and Fly Initiative by its founder Moatasem Saleh Al-Ghariri from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
The Palestinian Mariam Amin Bisharat, the karate champion, the Saudi Dina Abu Talib, the taekwondo champion, the Saudi swimmer Zaid Al-Sarraj, and the Egyptian Sarah Amr Hosni, the fencing player, won the Arab Sports Culture Award for the Promising Champion
The Arab Sports Culture Award for the Event of the Year went to the Qatar Football Association for organizing the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2024 and the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2024
While the Arab Sports Culture Award for the Best Women’s Paralympic Achievement 2024 went to the Egyptian weightlifter Rehab Radwan, the Arab Sports Culture Award for the Best Paralympic Achievement – Men 2024 went to the Algerian runner Othmani Iskandar, and the Arab Sports Culture Award for the Ideal Arab Athlete 2024 was won by the Qatari Mutaz Barshim Qatar
And the Arab Sports Culture Award for the Ideal Arab Athlete went to the Tunisian runner Habiba Laghribi
The Arab Federation chose three Among the sports stars to be awarded the title of Ambassador of Arab Sports Culture for the year 2025 are the Egyptian Hedaya Malak, the Saudi knight Ramzi Al-Dahami, the Kuwaiti shooter Fahad Al-Daihani, and the Moroccan runner Hisham Al-Guerrouj. The Arab Sports Culture Award for the Best Arab Sports Authority 2024 went to the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Algerian Paralympic Committee, and the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation.
